Boomer Erick Named Director of Golf at Miakka Golf Club

Miakka Golf Club has today announced Boomer Erick as the club’s Director Of Golf. Erick will be responsible for all aspects of the players’ golf experience when the club opens for full membership play in late 2026.

A native of Marco Island, Florida, coming to the new club is a homecoming of sorts for Erick who joins the club based in Myakka City on the west coast of Florida. A PGA Class A Professional as well as a PGA Specialized Professional in Golf Operations, he served as Head Professional at Boston Golf Club for 17 years, overseeing all facets of golf operations, including member engagement, instruction, merchandising, and professional development, while upholding the club’s values and culture.

“We have been putting together an all-star team to assure every facet of a world class golf experience is realized at Miakka Golf Club and Boomer is a fantastic addition,” says Steve Herrig, the club’s creator and owner.

An accomplished and competitive player, Boomer has competed in the U.S. Senior Open, the Senior PGA Professional Championship, and eight PGA Professional National Championships. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he earned All-SEC golf team honors and competed in three national championships and two U.S. Amateur Championships. He’s married to Kerry Erick, and has three children.

Designed by Dana Fry and Jason Straka in consultation with winning Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger, Miakka Golf Club is a private golf course crafted in the style of Australian sand belt standouts like Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath Golf Club, and features dramatic bunkering and significant elevation changes.

In addition to the 18-hole golf course, Miakka Golf Club will include a member’s clubhouse, a 12-hole short course, a 360 degree driving range and luxury cottages. The club will have a limited membership with the 18-hole championship course slated to open in the winter of 2026.
