The Course

At Miakka, Fry, Straka and Azinger are building a style of course unseen previously in Florida. Sand-capped fairways throughout ensure firm and fast playing surfaces. Even the grasses, unique to Florida golf—called Lazer and Stadium Zoysia—were picked to create a ground game that links to the Old World game, where members have endless options—putting or chipping from 50 yards off the greens and using the contours of the ground to dictate the ball’s path. 

Throughout it all, the Miakka design and construction team has put the environment at the forefront. In picking its grass, the team found an option that required less water and fewer inputs than most traditional grasses used in Florida to create a great playing surface. Hundreds of Live Oaks were transplanted to give the site a timeless charm, making it appear as if the course has an established history. The result is a more natural, resilient golf course that will be playable and enjoyable for years to come. 

Though diminutive in size, the 1685-yard, 12-hole par-3 course will be enjoyable for all and maintained to the same exacting standards as the championship course. Like the championship course the par-3 course will be sodded and sand capped. The artfully designed par-3 holes will provide thrilling and fun opportunities to test your skills against friends and fellow members while its proximity to The Still will ensure everyone has a great time.
